Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been won on hard courts

A comeback Daniil Medvedev won his initial championship for 882 days with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament title decider.

Medvedev, a ex- world number one, has experienced a difficult year, winning just a single victory at the Grand Slams and experiencing a meltdown at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and issues with his serving in particular - resulted in him exiting of the world's top 10 and finally splitting with long-term trainer Cervara.

Now working with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has consistently progressed in the past month - climaxing in a tightly fought competitive victory over opponent Moutet.

This represents the player's initial championship following the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard court from that period of that year.

Success also signifies Medvedev has secured 21 championships at twenty-one distinct events.

"For the first time I am participating in a event with my two daughters together, so to get a championship is especially meaningful," commented tennis professional Medvedev.

"This victory is in honour of my child her name, because the initial championship I won when my child Alisa was born was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had lost his last six title deciders, including in the German tournament in the past months.

His counter-punching play style and recurring reactions on the tennis court had prompted commentators to question if his ability to perform at the elite level was concluded.

However the player has made changes in recent weeks, striving to come to the net and perform assertively, backed up by an enhanced service.

The champion recovered from a disadvantage in the opening set against the tricky Moutet, taking four of the last five points to gain the advantage.

Both players swapped breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, striving for his first professional victory, seized the initiative to force a decider.

Moutet saved 4 early-game chances in a tight final set before Medvedev won the break to that score to secure the win.

Appropriately, he clinched the win with a shot at the net area, with Moutet unable to control a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
